Delhi University's (DU) School of Open Learning (SOL) has made a big change in the admission process of postgraduate (PG) courses. Now direct admission will not be available in PG courses run by DU's SOL. Under the new system, SOL courses are being linked to the central admission system like DU's regular courses. Let's understand what changes will happen. How will admission be given in SOL now?

Admission to SOL also based on CUET-PG

Admission to DU's SOL will also be given based on CUET PG merit. Earlier admission in SOL was done based on merit i.e. marks obtained in graduation, but now the university has changed the rules. Regarding the new system, DU SOL says that now open learning is being brought closer to the regular system.

What if someone did not give CUET-PG?

If a candidate has not taken the CUET-PG exam for any special reason, then he will get admission only when seats are vacant. In such cases, admission can be given based on merit based on graduation marks, but this will happen only in special circumstances and the final decision will be taken by the admission committee of the university.

It is worth noting that when CUET-PG became mandatory in regular PG courses in 2023-24, it was not applicable in SOL, but now from 2025-26 this rule is being implemented there as well.

What is SOL?

Apart from regular colleges, Delhi University (DU) also runs the School of Open Learning (SOL). In SOL, students do not need to go to college and attend regular classes. Here graduation and post-graduation studies can be done from home. This system is especially for those students who cannot go to regular college for some reason, such as those who are employed, live in remote areas or want to study at a low cost. Students from all over the country can get a degree from DU through this open learning system.
