Today, Jubin Nautiyal’s soulful songs resonate with millions—whether in love or heartbreak, his voice touches every heart. But what many don’t know is that the journey to his success wasn’t easy. Early in his career, Jubin faced rejection from the renowned singer Sonu Nigam during a live reality show. However, a crucial piece of advice from the legendary AR Rahman later changed the course of his life and career. Jubin himself has spoken openly about this transformative experience.

The Rejection on X Factor

Born on June 14, 1989, in Dehradun, Jubin Nautiyal turned 36 today. His passion for singing has always been evident, but in 2011, when he participated as a contestant on the reality show X Factor, things took a challenging turn. The judging panel included Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Jubin performed the song ‘Tujhe Bhula Diya’, which impressed Shreya and Sanjay greatly. However, Sonu Nigam was not convinced by Jubin’s voice and suggested that he needed more work and practice. Sonu’s rejection, supported by the other judges, meant Jubin couldn’t advance further, despite the audience’s appreciation for his talent.

AR Rahman’s Impact

Jubin has revealed in interviews that it was the guidance of AR Rahman that truly shaped his career. Years ago, when Jubin was looking for a music teaser, he met AR Rahman, who recognized his potential. Rahman advised him to keep practicing and honing his craft. Jubin followed this advice diligently and credits AR Rahman for his growth and success. He has expressed deep gratitude for the legendary composer’s mentorship, saying that everything he is today is because of Rahman’s support.
