1. Bleeding disorders
One of the most common causes of unexplained bruising is a bleeding disorder. Conditions such as hemophilia affect the ability of blood to clot properly.
2. Vitamin C deficiency
A lack of vitamin C in the body can lead to scurvy, a condition that weakens blood vessels, causing easy bruising.
3. Vitamin K deficiency
Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting. If you don't have enough of this vitamin, it becomes difficult for blood to clot, making you more likely to bruise.
4. Blood thinners
Regular use of blood thinners (such as aspirin, warfarin or certain anti-inflammatory drugs) can prevent blood from clotting. As a result, bruises can appear even with minor injuries.
