From now on, only IRCTC accounts linked to Aadhaar will be allowed to book Tatkal tickets during the first 10 minutes of the booking window. This new policy gives an edge to genuine passengers, let's know the full details about it

What is the new rule?

As per the updated IRCTC guidelines:

Only users with IRCTC accounts linked to Aadhaar can book Tatkal tickets during the first 10 minutes of the booking window.

Agents will be completely banned from making bookings during this early access period.

This increases the chances of getting confirmed tickets for regular travellers and prevents bulk booking by agents.

How to link your IRCTC account with Aadhaar

Visit www.Irctc.Co.In

Log in using your IRCTC username and password.

Go to the ‘My Account’ section on the homepage.

Click on ‘Link your Aadhaar’.

Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and registered name.

Verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Click on ‘Update’ to complete the linking process.

Once linked, your profile will be Aadhaar-verified, allowing you to avail the Early Access benefits.

Step-by-Step: How to book Tatkal tickets with Aadhaar-linked IRCTC account

Log in to www.Irctc.Co.In

Enter travel details (From, To, Date) and select Tatkal in quota.

Click on ‘Search’ to view available trains.

Select your train and check seat availability.

Fill in passenger details (name, age, gender).

Select your seat and coach preferences.

Enter captcha and your registered mobile number.

Complete payment via debit/credit card, UPI, net banking, etc.

After successful payment, booking confirmation will be sent via SMS and email.
