Change in cut-off: Lack of all categories

This year NEET UG cut-off has recorded a decrease in all categories. The general (UR/EW) category cut-off was 720–162 in 2024, which has come down to 686-144 in 2025. The cut-off of OBC, SC, and ST categories has also come down from 161-127 to 143-113. There has also been a decrease in cut-off for PWBD candidates. This change may be news of relief for students who were deprived of admission due to cut-off last year.

How many students were involved, how many close?

According to NTA data, 22,76,069 candidates had registered for NEET UG 2025 this year. Of these, 22,09,318 students took the exam. A total of 12,36,531 candidates passed the examination, which is about 56% of the total students present. There were 3,03,040 students in the range of 144–200 points, while the range of 601–650 points included 1,259 candidates. The highest score, that is, in the range of 651–686 points, only 73 students made it to. This figure suggests how challenging it was to get a higher score.

Shine of toppers: Mahesh Kumar won

In NEET UG 2025, Mahesh Kumar got the first place and illuminated the name across the country. Utkarsh Awadhiya was in the second place, who got this position with his hard work. The special thing is that Avika Aggarwal, the only female candidate in the top 10, finished seventh. This achievement of Avika has inspired not only her family, but the daughters of the entire country.

What do experts say?

Education experts believe that the reduction in cut-offs may cause factors such as the difficulty of the question paper and the increase in the number of candidates. Experts recommend that students now start preparing for the counseling process, as cut-off and rank will contribute significantly to seat allocation.
