The Rajasthan Cyber Crime Branch has issued a high alert regarding a fake mobile application named “SBI REWARDZ.apk” that is spreading rapidly through WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram. This app mimics the official SBI Rewardz app but is actually a dangerous Android malware designed to steal personal and financial information from users’ phones.

📲 How Does This Fake App Work?

According to reports, once the fake "SBI REWARDZ.apk" file is downloaded and installed, it silently runs in the background without the user's knowledge. It starts collecting sensitive information such as:

  • SMS messages

  • Contact list

  • App notifications

All this data is sent to an unsecured server hosted on Google Firebase, posing a significant risk to users’ privacy and security.

💳 Financial Data Is the Main Target

The primary goal of this malware is to steal banking and identity information, including:

  • Credit/Debit card numbers

  • CVV and PIN codes

  • PAN card details

  • Other sensitive credentials

Cybercriminals use this information to carry out online fraud and financial scams.

🚨 Rajasthan Police Advisory

The Rajasthan Cyber Police has issued the following safety tips:

  1. Download the SBI REWARDZ app only from the official Google Play Store.

  2. Do NOT install any .apk files shared via WhatsApp, Telegram, or social media.

  3. If you've already installed this fake app by mistake, uninstall it immediately and scan your device for threats.

📞 What to Do If You Fall Victim
