Ahmedabad Plane Crash : A terrible plane crash has shook the entire country. Air India flight AI171, which left for London from Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, crashed in a few seconds and became a ball of fire. In this accident, 241 out of 242 passengers and crew members died. This incident has brought a deep damage and irreparable sorrow to the country.
Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has also died in this accident. Hearing this news, there has been deep mourning in the political corridors in the state and the country. Rupani’s daughter and wife have reached Ahmedabad from London, while her son is returning from America. After DNA testing, his body will be assigned to the family.
Only one person’s life was saved in this painful accident – Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, who was sitting on the seat 11A in the flight. Miraculously, he jumped just before the aircraft fell, saving his life. Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to the hospital and met him and came to know about his well being.
About 20 students of the Medical College Hostel have also been killed in this plane crash. This accident has become the end of the dreams of many families, not just a technical failure. With the future of these students, the country’s expectations were also shattered.
The black box of the flight has not yet been found, which could have given accurate information about the cause of the accident. The rear of the aircraft is stuck on the second floor of the medical hostel, causing trouble in rescue and search work. The technical investigation will be completed only after getting the black box.
After the accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ahmedabad from Delhi in the morning. He visited the accident site and then went to the hospital and met the injured passengers. Modi held a review meeting with the officials at the airport and gave necessary guidelines regarding relief works.
Air India has set up help centers at Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Gatwick Airport to help the families of the deceased. Here family members can get information and get necessary help. This step is commendable, but in this hour of mourning it is only a small relief.
