Amitabh Kant Steps Down from G20 Sherpa Role

Amitabh Kant has officially resigned from his position as the G20 Sherpa. Throughout his 45-year tenure in public service, he has held numerous significant roles.


A retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1980 Kerala cadre, Kant was appointed as India's G20 Sherpa in July 2022.


His appointment came just months before India assumed the G20 presidency. On his professional platform LinkedIn, Kant shared a post titled 'My New Journey,' stating, 'After 45 years of dedicated public service, I have decided to embrace new opportunities and move forward in life. I am deeply grateful to the Prime Minister of India for accepting my resignation as G20 Sherpa and for the chance to advance various developmental initiatives, contributing to India's growth, development, and progress.'
