A New Era of Indian Cinema

Mumbai: Warner Bros. has entered into a significant five-film partnership with Bhanushali Studios Limited (BSL), recognized for its productions like “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai” and “Bhaiyya Ji,” in collaboration with JOAT Films to create Indian adaptations of Warner Bros. Pictures' renowned titles.

As reported by variety.com, this agreement aims to reinterpret classic Warner Bros. properties through an Indian cultural perspective while retaining the universal themes that contributed to their global success. Warner Bros. Pictures will oversee the worldwide distribution of these films.

Vinod Bhanushali, the founder and producer of Bhanushali Studios, recently finalized a three-film agreement with Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films.

The upcoming slate features titles such as “Janhit Mein Jaari,” “Main Atal Hoon,” “Costao,” “Bhaiyya Ji,” and “Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam,” according to variety.com.

Denzil Dias, VP and managing director of Warner Bros. Pictures in India, stated, “India is one of the most dynamic and sophisticated film markets globally, with audiences who value authentic, locally rooted stories.”

He further emphasized, “This collaboration enables us to merge our storytelling legacy with outstanding local talent, crafting films that will deeply resonate with Indian viewers while preserving the universal appeal that characterizes great cinema.”

Bhanushali expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Warner Bros. Pictures, a studio that has significantly influenced cinematic history over the years.

He remarked, “This collaboration presents a unique chance to reinterpret Warner Bros. Pictures' narratives through an Indian creative lens, merging emotion, scale, and culture for audiences both domestically and internationally.”

Jack Nguyen from JOAT Films, who brings three decades of industry expertise and an existing first-look agreement with Warner Bros. Pictures, will also contribute to this venture, starting with a Korean adaptation of “The Intern.”

Nguyen stated, “I’m thrilled to collaborate with BSL to adapt Warner Bros. Pictures titles that will resonate with Indian audiences. Warner Bros. Pictures has an unmatched library from which we will carefully select titles for the vibrant Indian market.”

Development on the first project is already in progress, with creative teams and production schedules expected to be announced soon, as reported by variety.com.
