Mahesh Kalavadia, a local film director who is also known as Mahesh Jirawala after a recent Air India aircraft accident in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has mysteriously disappeared. He was not riding on the crashed plane, yet his mobile phone was found to be active for the last time near the accident site. This incident has worried his family and police.
Mahesh’s wife Hetal Kalawadia told that on May 22 at around 1:14 pm, Mahesh called him and told him that he was returning home after a meeting in the Law Garden area. But when they did not reach home till late evening and their phone switched off, the family got suspicious. Later, police investigation revealed that his mobile phone was last active about 700 meters from the accident site and stopped after 1:40 pm.
On finding no concrete clues in search of Mahesh, the family has handed over his DNA sample to the authorities to find out if they are involved in those killed on the ground in aircraft accident. 29 people were killed on the ground in the accident, and many bodies were so badly burnt that their identity is possible only through DNA testing.
According to the family, Mahesh usually did not return home from the route from where his phone was active for the last time. Both his scooter and mobile phones have not yet been found, due to which the matter has become even more mysterious. Hetal said, "My husband never used that path. His sudden disappearance is very unusual."
On 22 May, an Air India flight flew to London, crashed near a medical college in Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad. Along with 241 passengers and crew aboard the aircraft, many ground people were killed in the accident. So far, 47 bodies have been identified by DNA investigation, while the rest of the identification process is going on.
