After the underperformance of Singham Again at the box office, Rohit Shetty is currently busy with the filming of his next action drama, a biopic on the life of former Police commissioner of Mumbai, Rakesh Maria, starring John Abraham in the lead role.

Now, a new report has revealed that after wrapping up the shoot for the Rakesh Maria biopic, Rohit Shetty will begin work on the highly anticipated Golmaal 5 starring Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu.

Sharing the details about the shoot timeline, a source told Pinkvilla, “Rohit Shetty is presently shooting for the Rakesh Maria biopic with John Abraham in Mumbai. The film will be wrapped up by September 2025, and the filmmaker is aiming to lock the edit by the end of this year, for an early 2026 release. Right after completing work on the Rakesh Maria Biopic, Rohit moves on to the prep of Golmaal FIVE, and take it on floors by February/March 2026.”

The source added that the basic plot of the fifth instalment in the comedy franchise is locked and currently the work on the screenplay is going on.

Sharing further details, the source stated, “A fresh set of writers are working on the script of Golmaal FIVE, which is expected to be locked by September 2025, not-withstanding the dialogues and polishing work.”

Golmaal 5 is expected to release in theatres by the first half of 2027.

Interestingly, Golmaal 5 will mark Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s 14th collaboration. Their previous films include Zameen (2003), Golmaal - Fun Unlimited (2006), Sunday (2008), Golmaal Returns (2008), All The Best (2009), Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Singham Returns (2014), Golmaal Again (2017), Simmba (2018), Sooryavanshi (2021), Singham Again (2024).

Earlier, David Dhawan and Govinda did 18 films together from Taaqatwar in 1989 to Do Knot Disturb in 2009.
