is a unique singing competition which set itself apart from by making sure celeb judges were facing away from contestants when they sang, and judging them purely on their voice alone. While pulled in the ratings with his Mr Nasty persona, which made some viewers laugh and cringe simultaneously, The Voice was billed as a show with a more serious side - and viewers grew to be hooked over the years.
However, it has now emerged that the show will reportedly be not be returning in 2025, despite a successful 2024 season featuring veteran crooner Tom Jones, rapper Will.i.am of The Blackeyed Peas, and new judges Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher alongside American songstress LeAnn Rimes. The Super TV 24/7 X account wrote today: "NEW ITV have officially pushed back #TheVoiceUK into 2026, meaning no series will air this year, for the first year since 2012. It'll return to its old slot in January - but most likely on Sunday nights, replacing ."
If so, the show would be losing the primetime dominance it had enjoyed on Saturday evenings in the past.
Express has approached a representative for ITV for comment.
Filming was thought to have already got underway, with ex-Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland, now a solo singer, replacing LeAnn Rimes in the judging seat.
The news comes just days after Tom Jones, who has been on the show since the beginning with the exception of a short break in 2016, celebrated his 85th birthday.
It is thought that his huge UK and Europe tour this summer would not have left him with much time to help publicise the show, with Tom taking to the stage in the German city of Stuttgart tonight.
On Friday, he performed at Hampton Court Palace, while tour dates in the coming weeks include a show at the historic Colchester Castle, and he'll also visit the likes of Denmark and Norway.
Followers had already shared concerns on social media that he was being "worked too hard" following the announcement of the huge list of shows.
Meanwhile, fans expressed their sadness over on X at losing The Voice, with one writing: "So basically it's gonna be dry between now & January Saturday nights on ITV - wish X Factor was back."
Another wrote: "The music industry loses out on a huge name."
