fans have been given a first glimpse of what they can expect from after the film's concept art was unveiled at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and later shared to social media. Like the first four movies in the franchise, it's a collaboration with and it's set hit the big screen on June 19, 2026.

A clip of the production appeared to show a shipment of Buzz Lightyear toys crashed on a deserted island, who are then required to work together to build a raft to get back to Star Command. Elsewhere, still images showed Jessie addressing a new character called LilyPad - a green tablet with a frog-like appearance.

LilyPad, which belongs to Bonnie is believed to be following in the footsteps of Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear, and Emperor Zurg as the lead villain of the film. TikTok film account 3C Films admitted the baddie was a "bit different" to what he expected.

"It's similar to an iPad and Leap Frog tablet in real life, and although it looks very friendly, it's said to have a completely different perception on how to play with Bonnie than our toy friends in Toy Story 5," 3C Films continued in a video.

"I didn't think the tablet would have an actual personality or that it would talk, but I think it'll be really fun to see Bonnie develop 'brain rot' a short-attention span and maybe she will become a misbehaving kid."

Responding to this concept, however, fans seemed less than impressed, including one who slammed in response: "Should’ve just ended it on [Toy Story] 3."

A second person concurred: "Just end this franchise already." A third pondered: "Hey, remember when Toy Story 3 had a perfect ending to the franchise and then they made Toy Story 4 which also had a perfect ending to the franchise? What are we doing here?"

Whilst a fourth X TikTok user added: "Here is the thing, I thought 3 was the end and made sense for me, then they made 4 and I felt that was the end. Now it’s 5, which I am not a fan of, but I will wait for more details to come out."

The narrative was similar on X meanwhile, where one user responded to the news: "Why didn’t they just end this after 3? I know it’s obviously for $$$ but that ending was the most perfect ending a trilogy could ever have."

However, others praised the tablet idea, explaining that its a fair reflection of modern day childhood. "It makes sense since kids are far less likely to play with toys vs a tablet in this day and age it should be great can’t wait to see it," one X user shared.

Another joked: "iPad kids as the evil cult makes for a great storyline." A third individual mused: "Interesting. This is a battle in real life of what is best for kids. Toys vs ."

And a fourth said: "Unironically think it's a good take though, easy digital access can be disastrous for developing minds."

Announcing the production in August last year, Disney : "The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and this time around it’s Toy meets Tech. Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder when they go head to head with this all-new threat to playtime."
