From Dussehri to Alphonso and Totapuri to Kesar, mango lovers are not missing any opportunity to taste them. However, one variety of mango is much talked about in Jharkhand. This variety of mango is known as Miyazaki and to taste this mango you may have to spend a good amount of money, because this Japanese variety of mango is considered to be the most expensive mango in the world. Its price can be up to two and a half to three lakh rupees per kg.
For mango lovers, this mango is now available in Jharkhand. A farmer here had ordered a Miyazaki mango plant in June 2024 by spending 6 thousand rupees. This mango plant planted by 74-year-old Ganesh Jha has produced its first fruit and it has grown to about 300 grams. Along with this, many serious efforts are being made to produce this mango in different areas of the country, in which some people are also getting success.

According to an article in Japan's magazine Tokyo Weekender, two Miyazaki mangoes were sold for 6 lakh Japanese Yen (about Rs 3.56 lakh) in April 2023. According to the same article, low-quality Miyazaki mangoes are also sold for 5,000 Japanese Yen (about Rs 3 thousand) in fancy supermarkets in Japan.
"Egg of Sun" is made with utmost quality
According to the Miyazaki Local Product and Trade Promotion Center in Japan, Miyazaki mangoes are harvested between April and August. According to local reports, production of these mangoes began in the late 70s and early 80s. The city's warm, long hours of sunshine and abundant rainfall made it possible for Miyazaki farmers to grow this mango. Now it is a major crop here. These mangoes have to undergo rigorous inspection and testing before being shipped to the country. The mangoes that meet the highest quality are called "Egg of Sun".
