The UGC NET 2025 exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2, both of which are conducted on the same day. The exam is held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, meaning all questions are answered online. The total duration for both papers combined is 3 hours (180 minutes), with no break in between. Paper 1 contains 50 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs), focusing on teaching and research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, and general awareness. Paper 2 contains 100 objective-type MCQs, based on the subject chosen by the candidate (relevant to their post-graduation).
Each question in both papers carries 2 marks, making the total marks 300 (100 for Paper 1 and 200 for Paper 2). There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in either paper. The question paper is available in both English and Hindi; candidates must select their preferred language while applying.
