has quietly increased the price of its , but it has not gone unnoticed by customers. The popular supermarket lunch deal has gone from £3.75 to £3.95 - a price increase of 20p. Outraged customers have already taken to social media, writing on X: "Sainsburys meal deal gone up to £3.90 we are in the end times".

Another said: "Had to do a double take when I saw the price increase." A third complained that the supermarket was "sneaking" the price up. Even Sainsbury's staff have taken to Reddit to complain.

One staff member posted: "Wow saw that the meal deal has gone up to £3.95. Did anyone else know beforehand or did my managers fail to inform us this was happening?"

Another added: "Honestly I just tend not to eat at work anymore. Eating's too expensive."

The change comes less than a year after Sainsbury's last increased the price of its , when prices went from £3.50 in July 2024 to £3.75. At the time, shoppers also branded the unexpected hike as "sneaky".

The price of the more expensive Premium meal deal has not changed from £5.

Customers can choose a combination of a main, a side and a drink, including sandwiches, bags of crisps and fruit and drinks such as Diet Coke.

A Sainsbury's spokesperson said: "With millions of possible combinations, we continue to offer one of the best value meal deals around.

"We've also recently introduced a range of new products just in time for summer, including our best-seller Picnic Triple Sandwich and build-your-own options.

"This means anyone who shops with us can choose from an affordable selection of over 150 mains, 300 snacks and 400 drinks."

Even with the price increase, the Sainsbury's meal deal still remains one of the cheapest options. , Co-op, Morrisons and Tesco all charge £4 if you don't use their loyalty cards. If you have a Boots Advantage Card or, the deal is £3.60. Waitrose is the most expensive meal deal, which charges £5.
