Aamir Khan has left fans in stitches with a playful twist on the now-famous Magnus Carlsen table slam moment — and no one saw it coming. The actor surprised social media users with an unexpected dose of comedy in a light-hearted reel.

Aamir Khan joins Magnus Carlsen meme bandwagon

While in conversation with content creator Prakhar Gupta, Aamir took a dig at his own “perfectionist” image during promotions for his upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. In a comical reel titled “When you ask Aamir to trade perfection for a list of back-to-back movies,” Prakhar hands the actor a stack of scripts. What follows is Aamir, in mock outrage, banging the table and pacing around the room — mimicking Carlsen’s frustrated reaction after losing to D Gukesh.

The video recreates the viral chess moment that lit up the internet earlier this month, when 19-year-old Indian chess sensation D Gukesh beat world champion Magnus Carlsen at the Norway Chess 2025 tournament. After his loss, Carlsen’s reaction — a dramatic table slam — quickly became meme material.

Internet reacts to Aamir Khan's video

The reel featuring Aamir’s unexpected antics quickly caught fire online, with fans flooding the comments section. One user wrote, “How the hell did u convince him?” while another declared it the “Trend winner.”

Social media was brimming with reactions: “Lmao,” posted one fan, while another cheekily remarked, “Mr. Perfection.” Someone joked, “Aamir Khan playing @gukesh.official… unexpected biography.” Other fans called it the “Best meme ever” and “A re-creation no one saw coming.”

One user summed up the sentiment perfectly: “Yes finally the Gukesh meme with Aamir Khan.”

However, not everyone was impressed. Some viewers took a jab at Aamir’s performance in the reel. “Everyone in this trend acted better than the perfectionist actor,” one comment read. Another pointed out, “Is it just me or Prakhar acted way better than Aamir here.” A third viewer bluntly added, “Kyu nahi ho rahi acting.”

Aamir’s return to the silver screen

Aamir Khan is all set to make his big-screen comeback with 'Sitaare Zameen Par', a sports comedy-drama slated for release on June 20. Directed by RS Prasanna of 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan' fame, the film serves as a spiritual successor to Aamir’s beloved 2007 film 'Taare Zameen Par'.

Also starring Genelia D’Souza, the film follows the story of a hot-headed basketball coach assigned to train a team of differently abled kids for a championship. The ensemble includes ten newcomers: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

Adapted from the Spanish hit 'Campeones', the film is scheduled to release on June 20.
