A choreographer who worked on season eight of Dancing with the Stars, the US version of , has died. Dave Scott, who was born and raised in Compton, has died aged 52, according to his loved ones. He enjoyed a successful career working as a resident choreographer and is also credited for working on staging the dances for Step Up 2: The Streets, and working on So You Think You Can Dance. His family wrote on social media on Tuesday, "It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Dave Scott, who touched so many lives with his warmth, kindness and spirit. During this difficult time we are doing our best to honor his memory in the way he deserves with love, dignity and respect."
They also added, " Today we have lost an icon, a legend, a father and a dear friend. The weight of this loss will send ripples through time. But his memory and legacy will continue to live on.
"We love you, Dave Scott, and everything you've accomplished, and the joy and comfort you've brought to people will never be forgotten.
"Everyone is invited to share this post and let it reach everyone around the world. Show your love and support for this amazing individual and share the footprint he has left on this earth."
One of his fans commented, "My first real class was from Dave...been inspired by you my entire journey. a pioneer for me and so many others."
A second also left an emotional tribute saying, "Your talent, your kindness, your smile. Your hugs. Your excitement. Your light. Your encouragement. i'm not the me i am without you. I love you. It won't be the same without you."
Glee star Kevin McHale commented, "Dave was like a big brother to so many of us. When I felt reallllly out of place amongst so many great performers, he always made me comfortable and confident. Watching him dance and teach was a gift."
Scott pursued a professional dance career and was discovered in Utah by Rob Base's manager while he was dancing in a nightclub. He then joined the hip-hop artist on tour, which jump-started his glittering dance career.
