Paige DeSorbo explained her sudden departure from Love Island USA during a recent episode of her Giggly Squad podcast , which was released Tuesday, June 17. The reality star, 32, said that she suffered a medical emergency while guest presenting a challenge for the dating competition series in Fiji on Sunday, June 15.
She told DeSorbo that she had to be taken off the set mid-production after falling ill and passing out. "It's a long day of shooting, and we began pretty early," she explained. "And mind you, I had just arrived — not even a full 24 hours that I am there. I'm not even acclimated. But I'm fine, I'm not gonna say that. I'm not gonna be a diva. Like, I'm doing a job."
DeSorbo reported that she had been on a beta blocker that morning in an effort to control her nerves. She was dressed that day in a suede turtleneck, a microwave pack that rested against the back of her neck, and heavy hair extensions, all during the filming, which was done in some very hot weather. "The sun begins beating down on me rather ferociously," she said. "I have a big pain tolerance, so if I'm not comfortable, I'm really waiting until the last second to let you know, because I don't want to be a problem. I don't want to be bothersome."
She went on to describe how she began feeling unwell after about an hour and a half on set. “I’m like an hour and a half into filming and I’m like, ‘You know what? Real quick, I’m feeling a little bit queasy. Let me take a moment to myself,’” she recounted. “I throw up.”
