Though neither family spoke openly about the reasons, media reports suggested that Karisma’s mother, Babita, was wary of Abhishek’s uncertain career trajectory at the time. Allegedly, she demanded a prenuptial agreement involving Amitabh Bachchan’s wealth—something the Bachchans reportedly refused. These claims, however, remain speculative.

A Troubled Marriage with Sunjay Kapur

In 2003, Karisma married Delhi-based industrialist Sunjay Kapur. The couple had two children together, but their marriage soon turned rocky. What followed was a bitter and prolonged legal battle that ended in divorce in 2016. Karisma accused Sunjay of domestic abuse, while he alleged she had married him for financial gain. In 2022, during an AMA session on Instagram, a fan asked if she would ever consider remarrying. The actress responded with a GIF of a confused Quinta Brunson and the word “Depends.” While cryptic, the answer was enough to stir curiosity.
