have reportedly agreed personal terms with Benjamin Sesko, the RB Leipzig sttriker, as they edge closer to securing a new centre-forwrad. The Gunners are keen to sign a new No.9 this summer in their quest to reclaim the Premier League title and have identified 22-year-old Sesko as a key target. Despite Sesko's expected departure from Leipzig, Arsenal have also been scouting other players ahead of the transfer window.
Viktor Gyokeres, the 27-year-old Sporting striker, is another potential recruit for Arsenal, although negotiations are currently on hold. German publication has reported that Arsenal and Sesko have 'reached an agreement', bringing the deal one step closer. While there is no formal agreement on a transfer fee between Arsenal and Leipzig yet, it is suggested that the Gunners are prepared to make an offer that meets Leipzig's expectations.
This comes as Leipzig prepare to sell after failing to secure a Champions League spot. owever, Leipzig won't let Sesko go on the cheap. They're demanding a hefty fee, upwards of £60million.
Arsenal are pursuing deals for both Sesko and Gyokeres to keep their options open. Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, who was the subject of a rejected approach in January, remains on the club's radar.
North London is the preferred destination for Gyokeres this summer, but Sesko remains a long-term prospect after he was heavily linked with a move last year before renewing his contract in Germany.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly a big fan of the ex-RB Salzburg player, who surpassed the 20-goal mark last season.
Gyokeres is also tipped for a transfer this summer, but potential buyers might face a steeper fee than anticipated. Reports had suggested that there was a gentleman's agreement between the Swede and Sporting Lisbon for a sale below his buyout clause.
However, the Portuguese champions have denied such assertions, with their president Frederico Varandas even accusing Gyokeres' representative of "playing games" regarding the forward's valuation.
