The restaurant chain ‘C. Shell’ of the famous actor of Tamil film industry Arya has come under the investigation of the Income Tax Department these days. In many places including Chennai on Wednesday morning, the Income Tax Department raided and created a stir. This restaurant chain is known for its special Arabic dishes and many branches are present in different parts of the city.

According to sources, this action has been taken after complaints of tax evasion. Investigations have revealed that the link of this restaurant chain is to a Dubai -based company, which has invested in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In this connection, now the role of actor Arya and his properties is also being investigated.

The case is to Dubai company

The Income Tax Department first launched an investigation on tax evasion complaints in Kochi, Kerala. It is alleged that tax rules have been violated in investment made by a Dubai company in a restaurant chain. The expansion of this investigation has now reached Chennai, where raids are being conducted on several branches of C. Shell Restaurant.

Actor Arya is to investment connection

According to the information, actor Arya started buying a few branches of ‘Sea Shell’ and started operating them himself. For this reason, the Income Tax Department is now eyeing their activities and transactions. Not only the restaurants but also the private residence of the actor has joined the scope of investigation.

Eight teams raided together

On Wednesday morning, the Income Tax Department teams reached the restaurant branches at Anna Nagar, Valachary and Duraipakkam. Riding in three vehicles, the officers got involved in the investigation of the documents. To make the action more effective, the department started raids on different locations together by dividing in eight teams.

The official statement has not come yet

At present, the Income Tax Department has not issued any official statement regarding this entire matter. Sources say that it is too early to reach any conclusion until the investigation is completed. But it is clear that something big can be revealed in the investigation.
