Pune: A major accident took place between a car and a pickup tempo at the Jejuri-Morgaon road in Pune on late Wednesday. Eight people died on the spot and six have been reported seriously injured.

Reportedly, a Swift Dzire car (MH 42 AX 1060) from Pune towards Morgaon rammed into a stationary pickup tempo (MH 12 XM 3694) that was unloading goods in front of Shriram Dhaba. The impact of the crash was so severe that the car also hit another parked car (MH 12 TK 9483) nearby.

Three people standing outside the dhaba, two unloading goods from the tempo, and three passengers in the car were killed on the spot. Visuals from spot show the damaged car and the overturned tempo.

The deceased have been identified as Somnath Ramchandra Bayse, Ramu Sanjivan Yadav, Ajay Kumar Chavan, Ajit Ashok Jadhav, Kiran Bharat Raut, Ashwini Santosh Yesar, Akshay Shankar Raut. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the government hospital for autopsy. 

The police rushed to the spot and have lauched an investigation in the matter.
