The luxury EV space is a tricky one manufacturers have been struggling to judge consumer trends. This means that many of their EV plans have either been cancelled or delayed by quite a bit and the latest one to join this list is Ferrari. They have just delayed their second EV because of poor demand.
Mind you, we are not talking about their first EV, which is still inbound for debut in 2026 but that would be a very low volume vehicle. Their second vehicle in the lineup has been delayed from 2026 to 2028. Ferrari however is not the only brand which is facing issued with their electric vehicles. Tesla, Lucid and every manufacturer who builds luxury EVs is facing a slowdown in customer demand.
Lamborghini delayed its first EV as well and Porsche is having a tough time producing the Cayman and Boxter electric due to shortage of parts. According to the sources by Reutersthe Ferrari EV has been delayed due to poor demand. Their first electric car is going to be a larger vehicle which is also going to be very exclusive. We expect it to cost well over $500,000, but their second EV is what would have changed things for the brand and made them compete in the mainstream EV space with other luxury manufacturers.
