Actor Karisma Kapoor made her first public appearance following the death of her ex-husband, industrialist Sunjay Kapur. She was seen departing from Mumbai on Thursday morning, along with her children Samaira and Kiaan, to attend Sunjay’s funeral in Delhi.
Dressed in a simple white suit, Karisma was accompanied by her 19-year-old daughter Samaira and 13-year-old son Kiaan, who wore traditional white outfits in keeping with mourning customs. The trio was seen at a private airport in Mumbai before boarding a flight to Delhi. Videos from the location quickly surfaced online.
Karisma's sister Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan were also spotted at the airport. They reportedly flew to Delhi to be by the family's side during this difficult time.
Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12 in London, reportedly due to a heart attack he suffered while playing polo. Some unverified reports suggested the heart attack may have been triggered by a bee sting, though no official cause of death has been confirmed yet.
According to a press note released by his family, Sunjay's last rites will take place at 5 PM on June 20 at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi.
A separate prayer meeting is scheduled for June 22 at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi, from 4 PM to 5 PM. The circulated note is signed by his mother, Rani Surinder Kapur, his current wife Priya, and their children, Safira and Azarias. Karisma's children, Samaira and Kiaan, are also mentioned in the note.
Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor were married in 2003 and finalised their divorce in 2016. He later married Priya Sachdev in 2017, with whom he had a son named Azarias.
