Kirti Patel, a social media influencer with 1.3 million Instagram followers, has been apprehended in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, after evading law enforcement for over ten months. She was wanted in connection with a honeytrap and extortion case involving a local builder, with the FIR filed on June 2 in Surat. Patel allegedly lured the builder into a compromising situation, subsequently blackmailing him for a significant sum of money.
Reports indicate that she managed to avoid capture by frequently changing her location and using various SIM cards. However, on June 18, authorities tracked her down in the Sarkhej area of Ahmedabad, leading to her arrest by the Surat Police.
Alok Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone-1 in Surat, stated, "We have been on the lookout for Kirti Patel for ten months. Thanks to our technical team and cyber specialists, we pinpointed her location to Sarkhej in Ahmedabad. We coordinated with local authorities to facilitate her arrest. Patel is accused of honeytrapping and extortion, and her whereabouts changed frequently across Gujarat, complicating our efforts. We also worked with Instagram to trace her location."
Kumar revealed that Patel had demanded a ransom of 2 crores from the builder involved in the case. He added, "An FIR was filed in June 2024 regarding the honeytrap, naming five individuals. While four were apprehended, Kirti Patel remained at large until now. She was arrested based on a court-issued warrant and has been presented before the court."
