A Netflix sensation that garnered over 11,000,000 viewers in its debut week is now facing uncertainty about its continuation. Arnold Schwarzenegger's acclaimed action-comedy FUBAR has made a comeback with a second series, charting the adventures of Luke and Emma Brunner (portrayed by Monica Barbaro), a father-daughter duo who both covertly work for the CIA.
The show's blurb entices with: "When a father and daughter discover they both secretly work for the CIA, their high-stakes missions get tangled up with awkward family dynamics." Its inaugural series, which launched in 2023, was a smash hit on Netflix, dominating the most-watched lists and amassing close to 90million hours watched in just the first week.
Yet, reports have surfaced suggesting that the second series' viewership hasn't matched the heights of its predecessor.
FUBAR's second outing has scraped into Netflix's Top 10 this week, albeit at the lower end, attracting a mere 2.2million views since its release.
Labelled a "fall from grace" by Deadline, the outlet highlighted how the original series notched up 11million views in its opening weekend two years prior.
With no official word from Netflix on a third series, What's On Netflix has speculated that FUBAR might face the axe due to the dip in viewers, despite the second series ending on a cliffhanger.
The future of the show FUBAR is looking uncertain, sparking concern amongst its viewership. As per a comment shared on X: "The way I have no hope for season 3 of FUBAR. I just wanted my Emma/Aldon endgame."
One hopeful viewer remarked: "I would love a future where there is a FUBAR season 3," while a more sceptical fan pondered: "Is FUBAR season 2 any good? Absolutely not. But the last 3 episodes somehow hard pivot into a series of escalating gags and goofball nonsense that it kinda ends up becoming the kind of show you'd THINK something called FUBAR would be. Probably cancelled though and eh."
Nevertheless, some devotees assert that the second season surpasses its predecessor, as one enthusiast expressed: "I really loved the two season of FUBAR and leaving the end with a cliffhanger and season 2 definitely exceeded my expectations and it was so good that I am rewatching from the first season again. Would definitely love an another season tho."
Shared admiration comes from another fan who simply put: "Loved both seasons! ! Really hope it comes back for another!"
Others have shown their engagement by saying they "binged it" while one pointed out "I enjoyed season 1, but Season 2 is a step up in every way. Great casting, great acting and a much more enjoyable story. Arnold is as captivating as ever. I highly recommend."
