Karisma Kapoor 's ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passed away in UK while playing polo. His funeral took place on Thursday afternoon in Delhi. Karisma had flown to Delhi along with her children, Samaira and Kiaan , sister Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan . They were spotted at the airport as they flew to Delhi. Karisma and the kids Samaira and Kiaan offer floral tributes to Sunjay.
In the pictures which have now gone viral, one can see Kiaan being extremely heartbroken and in tears at the funeral while Karisma was seen consoling him. Meanwhile, Kareena and Saif who stood by the side to offer support also looked visibly upset.
Meanwhile, a letter regarding Sunjay's demise was signed by his mother Rani Surinder Kapur; his wife, Priya Sachdev; and their children Safira and Azarias. It also includes the names of his children with ex-wife Karisma Kapoor—Samaira and Kiaan.
For those not in the know, Sunjay and Karisma had tied the knot in 2003. The duo had filed for a divorce in 2014 and it got finalised in 2016. They had fought a legal battle for the custody of their children. Eventually, the court decided to grant the custody to Karisma while Sunjay had got the visitation rights.
Sunjay later married Priya Sachdev.
After the funeral, a prayer meeting for Sunjay Kapur is scheduled to be held on June 22 from 4 PM to 5 PM at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi, according to a note circulating on social media.
