IIT Delhi leads the Indian pack, making a significant leap to 123rd place, up from 150th in 2025. IIT Bombay is ranked 129th, slipping slightly from 118th last year but still among the top globally. IIT Madras shows remarkable improvement, rising 47 spots from 227 to 180, one of the biggest jumps this year. IIT Kanpur also climbs significantly, moving from 263 to 222, reflecting its rising academic reputation. IIT Kharagpur and IISc Bangalore maintain steady global positions at 215 and 219, respectively.
University of Delhi holds its ground at 328, continuing to represent India’s top public universities outside the IIT system. IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee both show small but positive shifts, now ranked 334 and 339, respectively. Anna University, while still in the top 500, saw a dip in its position, falling from 383 to 465 this year.
