From July 1, users booking Tatkal train tickets through IRCTC's official website and mobile app will need to ensure that their Aadhaar is linked to their IRCTC account. As per the new rules issued by Indian Railways, Aadhaar authentication will be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets, and only Aadhaar authenticated users will be allowed to proceed with such bookings.
How to Link Aadhaar Number with IRCTC Account
Step 1: Visit the official website www.irctc.co.in or open IRCTC Rail Connect app.
Step 2: Enter the 'User ID' and 'Password'
Step 3: Go to 'my profile tab' and click on 'Aadhaar KYC'
Step 4: Add your Aadhaar Number and choose the 'Send OTP' option. You will receive an OTP on your registered phone number.
Step 5: Enter the OTP and click 'Verify’ option.
Step 6: Once verified, KYC details will be on the screen.
Step 7: Choose the 'Submit' option to initiate the process of KYC verification, post which the Aadhaar will be verified.
How to Add Aadhaar Verified Passengers to Your IRCTC Account?
Step 1: Visit the official website www.irctc.co.in or open IRCTC Rail Connect app.
Step 2: Enter the 'User ID' and 'password'.
Step 3: Place the cursor on the 'Profile Section' and click on 'Master List'
Step 4: Enter the new passenger’s relevant details such as Aadhaar number, gender, date of birth as it is printed on the Aadhaar Card.
Step 5: Proceed to choose the 'Submit' option.
Once this process is complete all new passengers that have been added will reflect in the 'Master List' with a 'Pending' status. Once the verification is done, the status will automatically reflect as 'Verified'.
Note: The passengers who are in the master list can also be Aadhaar-verified by using the 'Edit' option.
OTP verification also mandatory from July 15
From July 15, Aadhaar OTP verification will also be required while booking Tatkal tickets. This rule applies to all booking modes—online, through counters, and via agents. Passengers must ensure the mobile number linked with their Aadhaar is active to complete this Tatkal booking.
