Laura Hamilton, the beloved host of A Place in The Sun, has humorously opened up about the costly impact her son's growing preference for global gastronomy is having on their dining experiences back in Blighty, as he opts to forego traditional children's menu selections for more sophisticated offerings.
The telly star and property expert has candidly expressed that her enthusiasm for introducing her kids, Rocco, 11, and Tahlia, 10, to the flavours of the world while filming abroad for the Channel 4 show has had an unforeseen and expensive side effect.
Evidently, Rocco and Tahlia's palates have matured beyond the simple delights of chicken nuggets and chips typical of most youngsters, making regular outings in the UK more of a gourmet experience than anticipated.
Preferring the richer variety found on the full-price menus, Rocco has set aside the usual child-friendly options for a taste of grown-up culinary luxury.
Detailing their food adventures, Laura shared: "I was really lucky that my two didn't have any allergies so food-wise I would take some little snacks on the plane and then it was 'right we're eating whatever's in the destination'."
She divulged further: "We always have the cuisine in the place we're in. So much so it's backfired a little bit now, because if we go to a restaurant, my son will be like, 'no I don't want the kids' menu I'm going full-blown adults' menu'."
Laura nevertheless celebrates her children's refined tastes, appreciating: "They've got a really great palette for stuff. I love my children being experimental with food - they would eat anything, they're not fussy."
In collaboration with Florette, the masters of salad, Laura is fronting their 'Tasty Escapes' summer campaign, giving UK residents a chance to snag an incredible holiday.
Not only is there a dreamy getaway up for grabs, but participants can also win a daily sum of £100 to ease shopping expenses or to cater to those spontaneous travel essentials.
Laura explained: "When you're in a hot destination it's very easy sometimes to skip lunch, but to have really nice salads in warm weather is always great."
Her passion for food was evident as she added: "I've always been inspired by my travels to come back and make lots of different dishes."
This promotion is stirring up excitement until the 31st July and is featured at leading supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Booths, Iceland, Booker, Home Bargains, and Farmfoods.
