Every day crores of people travel by train in the country. For whom thousands of trains are seen running on the tracks. Everyone wishes to get a comfortable and good seat during the train journey.

On the other hand, if the journey is very long, then the quality of the seat and the environment around you also matter. That is why many people like to travel by booking tickets in an AC coach. So that the journey can be completed comfortably.

But what if you get this facility without paying extra money? While booking tickets in Indian Railways, you get a facility. In which your ticket can be upgraded for free. Many people do not know about this.

There is a scheme of Railways which can upgrade your normal ticket to a higher class. But let us tell you that only passengers who book tickets online can avail of this benefit. How can you take advantage of this scheme, let us tell you.

When you book a ticket through the IRCTC website or app. So an option appears in it. In which it is written, are you interested in the free upgrade? If the passenger clicks on 'yes', then he can get a chance that his ticket will be upgraded.

Suppose you have booked a ticket in sleeper and there is a seat vacant in the third AC coach of the same train. So your ticket will be upgraded to third AC without any extra money. However, there is no guarantee whether your ticket will be upgraded or not.

This process is done by Indian Railways through automatic system. After the chart is prepared, the railway decides to upgrade the ticket. When the chart of a train is prepared, the upgrade is done automatically by PRS i.e. Passenger Reservation System.
