Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-anticipated film Kuberaa hit theatres on Friday to a wave of excitement and positive reviews. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film’s Day 1 performance was tracked closely by fans and industry watchers alike. As per early estimates shared by Sacnilk.com, Kuberaa opened with a collection of ₹13 crore across India.
The report notes that Kuberaa collected ₹13 crore on its opening day. While the numbers are respectable, they fall short of Dhanush’s previous theatrical outing, Raayan, which managed ₹15.7 crore on Day 1.
Kuberaa enjoyed strong occupancy in Telugu-speaking regions, with an overall occupancy of 57.36% on Friday. Morning shows began with 38.94%, increasing to 54.58% in the afternoon and peaking at 57.04% for the evening shows. With encouraging word of mouth, the film is expected to sustain its performance over the weekend.
While Kuberaa has made a strong mark in the South, it faces competition from Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par in the Hindi belt. Still, trade analysts expect Kuberaa to maintain steady growth over the next few days.
In a heartwarming moment, Dhanush and his son Linga watched the film on the first day, first show at Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai. The actor was visibly emotional at the massive response from fans.
In another video, he appeared overwhelmed as fans screamed his name, climbed walls for a glimpse, and reached out to shake his hand. His security personnel were seen trying to control the crowd.
Kuberaa was cleared for release by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a UA certificate. The film underwent 19 cuts, shortening its runtime by 13 minutes and 41 seconds.
