Singapore’s Changi was the busiest airport in Southeast Asia with 3.59 million passengers in May, followed by Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia (3.23 million), according to media publication company Aviation A2Z.

Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia came in third with 3.14 million passengers, followed by Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Thailand (3.11 million) and Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Phillipines (2.78 million).

Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City ranked sixth with 2.24 million passengers.

The Vietnamese airport in April opened its VND11-trillion (US$430 million) domestic Terminal 3, which is designed to serve up to 20 million passengers annually to be Vietnam’s largest domestic terminal.

Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi ranked seventh with 1.78 million passengers.

The rest of the top 10 were Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand, Denpasar – Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport on Bali Island and Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Indonesia.

Airports across the region are investing in terminal upgrades, digital services, and capacity expansion to handle the surge in passenger traffic.
