Claudia Winkleman looked completely unrecognisable as she took off her trademark eyeliner to undergo eye surgery. The Strictly Come Dancing host was forced to remove her make-up and go bare-faced as she underwent a procedure to correct her vision problems, and gushed about her doctor after its success.

Claudia, 53, informed fans she won't be seen with her famous eye-liner for several weeks during her recovery. She's barely seen without it these days, and BBC make-up artist Debbie Dannell confirmed that she uses Victoria Beckham Beauty's Satin Kajal Liner for her Strictly stints.

Now, however, she'll be forced to go without for a few weeks, with Claudia telling fans as she posed alongside her doctor in a plain grey T-shirt: "This amazing human makes me see.

"He's operated on my eyes before and he did it again today. No eyeliner for weeks and I sleep in googles (no words) but I'm eternally grateful. Do NOT zoom in on my left eye - it's wonky.

"Thank you Julian. I paid for the treatment, this isn't an ad. I just love him. It's very possible I'm still a bit sedated. Night night."

Along with her famous fringe, Claudia's eye make-up is a staple of her usual look - but eyeliner is also the "worst beauty trend" she ever tried. Speaking to Marie Claire, she explained: "Once, when I was 14 I thought easily the most glamorous thing was white eyeliner inside the eye and then heavy lip liner round the mouth. I think I looked repellent.

"You could say I've swapped because I now like a white Tipp-Ex mouth and a dark liner in the eye."

She added: "I've got very bad eyesight, but as long as I have orange face, black eyes, white mouth, then we're alright. Panda."
