New Delhi: After much anticipation, Aamir Khan’s 'Sitaare Zameen Par' finally graced the big screen on Friday, marking the superstar’s return to the movies after a brief hiatus. Directed by RS Prasanna, the heartwarming sports drama co-stars Genelia Deshmukh and introduces 10 fresh young talents. Following a decent opening, the film continued its steady streak at the box office on Day 2.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' earned ₹10.28 crore on Saturday, June 21, bringing its two-day India total to ₹21.35 crore. On its release day, the film had already collected ₹11.07 crore.

On its second day, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' raked in ₹10.28 crore, taking the total worldwide collection to ₹20 crore, with ₹7.15 crore coming from overseas markets.

'Sitaare Zameen Par' Occupancy Rates

Occupancy figures on Saturday showed promising traction, with Hindi shows averaging a 22.43% occupancy rate. Reportedly, the Tamil version clocked in at 25.20%, while Telugu saw 17.42% overall. Morning shows witnessed 13% occupancy, which surged to 31.86% in the afternoon. Evening show figures are yet to be updated.

'Sitaare Zameen Par' Plot

'Sitaare Zameen Par' follows the journey of a man, played by Aamir, who becomes a basketball coach for a group of children with learning disabilities. The emotional core of the film lies in its message of acceptance, perseverance and finding self-worth, making it a spiritual successor to Khan’s 2007 classic 'Taare Zameen Par'. Notably, the film is an official adaptation of the Spanish movie Campeones.

The ensemble cast of newcomers includes Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, and others—each bringing authenticity to the roles that anchor the film emotionally.

While it’s too early to call 'Sitaare Zameen Par' another blockbuster in Khan’s legacy, its consistent box office showing and heartfelt narrative suggest a promising road ahead.
