DGCA's Request for Air India Inspection Data

Mumbai: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has instructed flight operations inspectors to compile and submit comprehensive reports on all inspections and audits performed on Air India since the beginning of 2024, as reported on Saturday.

The deadline for submitting these findings is set for Sunday, according to sources.

This request follows a recent show-cause notice issued to the airline regarding violations of flight duty time limitations (FDTL), alongside the removal of three senior officials from their positions due to specific lapses.

The DGCA is seeking detailed information on both planned and unplanned inspections, including audits, cockpit and enroute evaluations, as well as assessments of station facilities, ramp, and cabin conditions.

Air India, part of the Tata Group, has been under heightened scrutiny since a tragic incident involving one of its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport on June 12, resulting in over 270 fatalities both onboard and on the ground.

The requested inspection and audit data will encompass findings related to ramp and cabin inspections, among other areas.
