A few days after the Ahmedabad aircraft accident, another major accident was averted. Indigo’s flight from Guwahati to Chennai had to make an emergency landing in Bengaluru due to fuel lack of fuel. According to the information, the flight pilot sent the ‘Mayday’ signal, which is a sign of a very serious situation. However, it was a matter of relief that the aircraft landed safely at Bangalore Airport. This incident is on Thursday, but its information came to light on Saturday.
The ‘Mayday’ message is sent when such a serious technical or operating problem arises in the aircraft that requires immediate help. The lack of fuel in this case increased the danger. After the incident, the pilot has been removed from service and the investigation of the case has started.
A few days before this incident, Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad on 12 June. At that time too, the pilot sent a message ‘Mayday’ a message at 1:39 pm, but after that the ATC lost contact and the aircraft fell in the residential area of Meghaninagar. In the accident, only one of the 242 people survived.
After the Air India accident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has shown strictness about the systemic deficiencies of the airline. DGCA has ordered three senior Air India officials to be removed from their responsibilities. This instruction indicates serious flaws in the crew timeline, compliance monitoring and internal accountability of the crew.
DGCA has asked Air India to report the action taken within 10 days and warned that the license can also be suspended on such violations in future. Air India has said that it has followed the order and strict adherence to security standards will be ensured.
