Budget airline easyJet has announced the launch of a brand-new route from a UK airport to Barcelona, Spain, a city break favourite among UK travellers, with flights set to begin on October 27, 2025.

The new service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, making it ideal for both quick weekend escapes and longer holidays. One-way fares start from just £32.99, with bookings now open on easyJet.com and via the airline's mobile app.

The new route, from Southampton Airport, is part of a wider expansion that will see 22 new easyJet routes introduced across the UK for the winter season.

Ali Gayward, easyJet's UK country manager, said: "We are delighted to be adding a new route from Southampton to Barcelona, providing greater direct connectivity for our customers in the South whilst offering great value for money and always aiming to make travel easy."

EasyJet holidays has also launched city break packages to Barcelona, combining flights and hotel stays, all protected under the company's Ultimate Flexibility policy, which includes the option to amend bookings, a refund guarantee, and a best price promise.

Chris Tibbett, Aero director at AGS Airports (owner of Southampton Airport), added: "This announcement further solidifies easyJet's commitment to the region with the introduction of its ninth destination from the airport.

"It's wonderful news for our passengers to be able to offer them even more choice for year-round travel to one of Europe's most vibrant cities direct from their local airport."

With the addition of Barcelona, easyJet now offers nine direct destinations from Southampton, including Alicante, Amsterdam, Belfast International, Faro, Geneva, Glasgow, Malaga, and Paris Orly.
