Actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza have long been adored as one of Bollywood’s most genuine and beloved couples. Fans love their sweet love story, goofy couple videos, and humble, down-to-earth vibe. So, it came as quite a surprise when a recent video of Riteish’s behaviour left many disappointed.
At the premiere of Genelia’s new film Sitaare Zameen Par, paparazzi captured Riteish walking hand in hand with Genelia as they made their way to the screening hall, navigating a crowd of fans.
Amid the rush, a young boy approached the couple and pulled out his phone for a selfie. Riteish promptly pushed the boy’s hand down, denying him the picture. The couple then continued walking, while the boy looked visibly upset.
The video quickly spread online, sparking thousands of comments from fans who felt let down by Riteish’s behaviour.
“First time mujhe Ritesh ka attitude pasand nhi aaya (For the first time, I did not appreciate Riteish's attitude),” wrote one user. Another commented, “Not expected from Ritesh very wrong attitude sorry unfollow you now.”
One user tagged Riteish and said, “Imagine his parents would have sent him to you for a pic and politely he came and tried to take a selfie, wat was wrong in that? Stay humble bhai and you will lose nothing out of it.”
Another disappointed fan remarked, “That was incredibly rude. Are these your true colours? Your facial expressions and attitude say a lot—and not in a good way. I expected a grown man to show more self-control and maturity. It wouldn't hurt to stay grounded and respectful.”
Someone else felt sympathy for the boy, writing, “His face looks like he is crying on the spot.”
A few even brought up Riteish’s last release, Housefull 5, mocking him for having “starry airs” despite mixed reviews.
“Proud moment after the success of Masterpiece - HOUSEFULL 5,” one sarcastically commented. Another added, “Housefull jaise movie banake aisa attitude hai bhai (Such attitude after a movie like Housefull 5).”
Riteish was last seen in Housefull 5 alongside Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan, while Genelia’s Sitaare Zameen Par, co-starring Aamir Khan, hit theatres this Friday.
