Air India crash: Manipur flight attendant's body brought home

The body of 20-year-old flight attendant Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma, who died in the Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad, was brought to Imphal.

Sharma was one of two flight attendants from Manipur who died in the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash. The other victim was Lamnunthem Singson, 26.

The ill-fated flight took off from Ahmedabad to London but crashed shortly after takeoff in a residential area.

Family traveled to confirm identity through DNA sample

Sharma's family has been heartbroken since they learned of the tragedy on June 12. They traveled to Ahmedabad to confirm her identity through a DNA sample.

When her body arrived in Imphal, hundreds, including locals, senior officials, elected representatives, and community leaders, gathered at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to pay their last respects.

'I'm going to London,' last message from Sharma
Final words

Sharma's last message to her family was, "I'm going to London. In a few minutes, we'll take off. We may not be able to talk afterward."

Her elder sister, Gitanjali, recalled how much she wanted to be a flight attendant.

After completing Class 12, Sharma joined DM College of Commerce with dreams of becoming a cabin crew.

Sharma was recruited by Air India three years ago while she was still studying for her undergraduate degree. She was based in Mumbai after her selection.

The tragic crash involved 242 passengers on board, with only one passenger surviving the incident.

Further, 33 people on the ground also lost their lives.
