Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The body of a gym trainer was finally returned to India from Dubai and cremated after 24 days in Gwalior on Sunday. The family has demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.

As per reports, Suraj Sharma died in Dubai just three days after arriving in the city. He had left Gwalior for Delhi on May 18 and flew to Dubai on May 23. On May 26, he reportedly passed away.

However, his family came to know about his death only on June 16—nearly three weeks later—through an email sent to Gwalior’s cyber cell by a social worker living in Dubai.

The email contained Suraj’s photograph and a copy of his passport. Police informed the family on June 17. Shocked and devastated, Suraj’s wife and father rushed to the Indian Embassy in Delhi to seek help in bringing his body back but claimed that officials there did not cooperate.

With no other option left, they approached Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and requested his intervention. Scindia assured the family that the cause of death would be investigated thoroughly.

The family has questioned the role of UAE authorities during the month-long delay and is demanding clarity on the chain of events that led to Suraj’s death and the prolonged silence. He is survived by his wife, children, elderly parents, and younger brother.
