J.K. Rowling has spilled the beans on the much awaited Harry Potter series. She will not be writing the scripts this time, however, with much inquisition she has reviewed the initial episodes and the developed storyline. On X (formerly Twitter), Rowling wrote, “I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!”
Replying to a fan’s query whether she personally worked on penning down the scripts, she said, “No, but I’ve worked closely with the extremely talented writers.”
According to People, J.K. Rowling will appear as the executive producer on the forthcoming show, joining hands with Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod.
In May, HBO unleashed the iconic lead cast of its new Harry Potter web series. The announcement was made on Instagram. Nonetheless, HBO kept the comments section off to avoid negative comments from the online users.
The message read, “Dear Mr. Potter, Miss Granger, and Mr. Weasley: We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please welcome Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley to the HBO Original Series Harry Potter.”
John Lithgow will be essaying the role of Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer will portray Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu will appear as Severus Snape. Nick Frost will be seen in the garb of Rubeus Hagrid, while Luke Thallon will be seen as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse in the role of Argus Filch.
HBO is yet to unleash the release date, however, as per Variety, the filming will begin this year and is estimated to be release in 2026.
