 Rishabh Pant lit up Day 2 of the Headingley Test not just with his bat but also with a touch of theatrical flair, celebrating his seventh Test century with a gravity-defying somersault that sent social media into a meltdown. But as it turns out, the flamboyant wicketkeeper-batter had options.LIVE: India vs England 1st Test Day 3Speaking to Cheteshwar Pujara on the broadcaster’s post-match show, Pant revealed that he had actually planned three possible celebrations for the occasion.
“I had actually thought of three celebrations. One was the ‘let-the-bat-do-the-talking’ one. Then I realised I should stick to my own style of celebration,” he said with a grin.WATCH:Pant brought up his hundred in typical fashion – by launching Shoaib Bashir for a six over deep midwicket, one hand off the bat, full intent in swing. Then followed the now-viral somersault, a move reminiscent of his celebratory leap in the IPL earlier this year. The broadcaster’s clip, captioned “What a knock, what a celebration!”quickly went viral.WATCH:His hundred – his fourth against England – came off 146 balls and included 10 boundaries and 4 sixes. Teaming up with captain Shubman Gill (147), Pant stitched a 209-run partnership that powered India past the 400-run mark.
