SOL: This year BA Psychology Honours will not be taught in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The Distance Education Bureau (DEB) has forbidden teaching Psychology Honours in ODL mode. For this reason, Delhi University's School of Open Learning (SOL) will not take admission in the four-year BA Psychology Honours this year. This course was started in SOL in the year 2023. In two years, about 1500 students have been admitted to this course. However, the batch of students who have already been admitted will continue.

Talks are being held with the Allied Health Council of India regarding the course. In such a situation, SOL hopes that this course will start next year. SOL Director Prof. Payal Mago said the watches that are already running will continue. There will be no loss to the studies of the students who have been admitted.

Guide to the rules or a game of personal interests?

He said that wherever Psychology is being run in Honours (ODL) mode, the Distance Education Bureau has asked not to take admissions for this course. Many questions are being asked by the students regarding this course. He said that the Allied Health Council of India has written in its rules that Psychology Honours cannot be run in ODL mode, whereas Psychology includes clinical psychology, non-clinical psychology, and counseling.

Clinical psychology is not in our curriculum. At the same time, teachers are saying in a hushed voice that this course has been prohibited from being run in ODL to benefit private universities. There, a hefty fee is charged to the students for this course.
