Team India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant was seen speaking to himself after a reckless shot that almost cost him his wicket on day four of the opening Test against England in Leeds. The southpaw was seen scolding himself not to try anything extraordinary, especially hitting the ball with the wind.

The reaction from the left-handed batter was supposedly due to the shot he played against Brydon Carse in the 32nd over of the innings. With Pant going for a wide hoick across the line, the ball went nowhere. England took the review but lost it as the southpaw had luckily got an edge off his bat.

In the video released by Star Sports, Pant was heard telling himself:

"Straight ball hai Rishabh. Aise yeh zaroori nahin hai, thik hai? Maarna hai toh seedha lag jaayega na is ball pe. Zabardasti with the wind try kare jaa raha hai." (It's a straight ball, Rishabh. Play with a straight bat and it will be okay. Don't try hitting the ball with the wind.

Michael Atherton, who was on commentary alongside Dinesh Karthik, said:

"You can translate exactly for us DK, given his ability in Hindi."

In reply, Karthik explained:

"First up he said, play with a straight bat, I can still middle it. Don't try to do too much. He is almost talking himself to saying he doesn't need to do anything out of the ordinary. He's pretty disappointed, but I hope he listens to himself."

Rishabh Pant completes 150 dismissals in Test cricket

Meanwhile, Team India's vice-captain completed a massive milestone as far as his keeping statistics go, completing 150 dismissals in the format on day 3. The landmark came after Prasidh Krishna got Ollie Pope to nick off for 106. The southpaw took one more catch on day 3 when Stokes edged one off Mohammed Siraj's bowling in the 65th over of the innings.

Despite those two scalps, Harry Brook continued to score freely as the home side went to lunch at 327/5 after beginning at 209/3. The home side were eventually bowled out for 465, whittling down India's lead by 6 runs. India finished day 3 at 90/2, holding a 96-run lead.
