Bhubaneswar: Naveen Patnaik, the president of the BJD, is on the mend after undergoing cervical spine surgery at a hospital in Mumbai, as confirmed by his brother on Monday.
In a video shared by the BJD, Prem Patnaik, the elder sibling of the former Chief Minister, stated, "Naveen had a successful procedure yesterday and is recovering well. He has even managed to take a few steps to the bathroom."
"I want to express my gratitude to everyone, especially the people of Odisha, for their thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes. With your support, I am confident he will recover swiftly. Thank you and Jai Jagannath," added Prem Patnaik.
The surgery was performed to address cervical arthritis at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
Dr. Santosh Shetty, the hospital's CEO and Executive Director, reported on Sunday that the operation was successful.
Dr. Ramakant Panda, a renowned cardiologist from Odisha who oversaw the surgery, mentioned that Patnaik has begun speaking and will be monitored for two days before being moved to a private room.
Dr. Panda anticipates that Patnaik will be ready for discharge in about four to five days.
