Dhanush and Nagarjuna’s highly-awaited crime thriller Kuberaa met with positive reviews upon release, though its box office opening in India was slow. Nevertheless, the film gained momentum over the weekend to reach ₹50.82 crore in total earnings.
Monday Test Proves Challenging
As Kuberaa crossed its first Monday, the collection rate slowed, a general pattern for theater releases after the opening weekend. The film collected ₹2.22 crore on Monday, according to Sacnilk. Although the weekend provided the film with a decent boost, the slowing indicates that it may not be able to sustain pace on weekdays.
The movie had a 26.69% Telugu occupancy on Monday, which comprised 19.90% in the morning and 33.48% in the afternoon shows—reflecting lackluster audience reception.
Nagarjuna Clarifies Following Fan Backlash
At a later event, Nagarjuna gave a clarification, saying, “It’s not my cinema. It’s Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa. The story belongs to all the characters—Deva, Deepak, Sameera, and Khushboo.” He stressed that his statements were misinterpreted and that he never meant to claim all the credit.

A Collaborative Effort
Directed by Sekhar Kammula and featuring Sree Venkateswara Cinemas and Amigos Creations as the producers, Kuberaa boasts an ensemble of actors such as Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil. With a rough beginning, however, the strong narrative and star power may be able to keep the film afloat in the box office.
