Launch of NAVYA Initiative
In alignment with the Prime Minister's vision for 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and the government's steadfast dedication to women-led development, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is set to unveil a collaborative pilot project with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). This initiative, named NAVYA – Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls, will be launched on Tuesday in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative will be jointly inaugurated by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MSDE, and Savitri Thakur, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, as per the announcement from the MWCD.
NAVYA aims to provide vocational training to adolescent girls aged 16-18 years who have completed at least Class 10, focusing on non-traditional job roles. This pilot program will be rolled out in 27 districts across the country, including Aspirational districts and regions in the North-eastern States, covering 19 States in total. This reflects the government's inclusive strategy to support underserved areas and vulnerable groups.
During the launch, both ministries will solidify their partnership to enhance skilling initiatives for adolescent girls. The program will leverage the strengths of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and other prominent skill development programs. The event will also include interactions with the adolescent girl trainees and the distribution of PMKVY and PM Vishwakarma certificates.
Through NAVYA, the Government of India aims to empower girls with essential skills, confidence, and opportunities, ensuring that every young woman plays a pivotal role in India's progress towards a developed, self-reliant, and inclusive future.
