Police in Guntur district have expanded their probe into the death of Singaiah, who reportedly died after attending the visit of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district on June 18. A video that circulated widely showed Singaiah falling near the convoy and the vehicle running over him, raising serious questions about the events leading to his death.

The authorities have summoned key members of Jagan’s security team, including his Chief Security Officer and close protection personnel, to investigate potential lapses in crowd management during the visit, reported The New Indian Express.

Superintendent of Police S Satish Kumar stated at a press briefing that Singaiah sustained severe bleeding injuries and was immediately taken to hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, as per a report on PTI. The deceased was an elderly man who was present near the route taken by the convoy.

Jagan Mohan Reddy Convoy Accident

On the day of the incident, the former CM was visiting Rentapalla to meet the family of a YSRCP leader who had died by suicide the previous year. Police, after reviewing CCTV footage, drone recordings and other evidence, confirmed that Singaiah was struck by a vehicle in the convoy while it was passing through the Etukuru bypass.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, former MP YV Subba Reddy, former minister Vidadala Rajini and a few other leaders have been named as accused in connection with the accident.

"After analysing various evidence, it was found that the deceased was seen under the wheels of Reddy's vehicle," Satish Kumar said, as per the report.
